The rules for using MoneyLeft.

Last updated: 15 October 2026

What MoneyLeft is

A personal finance app. You record what comes in and what goes out, and the app tells you how much you have left until your next payday. Your archive is kept on your device, and a backup copy is kept on your account, until you switch it off.

Account

To use MoneyLeft you need a MoneyLeft account, which is free: when it starts, the app asks you to create one or to sign in, and all you need is an email address and a password. If you are updating from a version without an account, you create the account or sign in, and the data you have on the phone becomes your account's data.

If you sign out of the account or the session expires, the app stops at the sign-in screen until you sign back in. From that screen you can export your data. You can delete the account at any time, from Settings › Account › Delete account: deleting it erases your data on the server and on the phone you delete it from, and only the records described in the privacy policy remain.

Keep your password to yourself and choose one you do not use anywhere else: anyone who knows it can get into your account and see your data, and you are responsible for what happens with your credentials, unless it is caused by a mistake on our part. If you think someone has found it out, reset it straight away from the sign-in screen and write to us.

Use

You may use MoneyLeft to manage your own personal finances or those of your household. You are responsible for the data you enter and for its accuracy: the app calculates on what you give it.

You may not use MoneyLeft for illegal activities, nor try to access other people's data, get around the limits of the free plan or the subscription checks, query or overload the server with tools other than the app, extract data from it automatically, introduce viruses or malicious code, or copy, decompile and resell the app, except for what the law allows you to do anyway.

If you break these rules seriously, we may suspend or close your account. We first write to you at the account email to explain why and give you the chance to reply, unless we need to act at once to protect the service or other users. You can still export the data on your phone from the sign-in screen, and the data on the server is kept for 30 days before it is deleted: during that period you can ask us for a copy.

If we were to close your account without any breach on your part, the same guarantees as for the closure of the service apply: notice, free export and, if you have a subscription running, the service until the end of the paid period or a refund of the unused part.

Inactive accounts. If for 24 months in a row you never open the app with your account signed in and an internet connection, we may close the account and delete the data on the server. At least 60 days before, we email the address on your account: to keep it, just open the app. We don't close an account this way if it has an active MoneyLeft Pro subscription, and the data on your phone stays where it is, exportable from the sign-in screen.

The numbers are estimates, the decisions are yours

MoneyLeft does its sums with the data you enter: balances, transactions, instalments, pay. What it shows (how much you have left, how much you can spend, the forecasts) is an estimate calculated from that data, not financial, investment or tax advice, nor advice on how to spend. We do not ask you or push you to make any purchase: what to buy, how much and when is your decision. For this reason we are not liable for the choices you make on the basis of these numbers, nor for incorrect results caused by data entered wrongly or incompletely. This does not affect the rights that the law grants you as a consumer and that no contract can take away. MoneyLeft Pro's saving suggestions are also general suggestions worked out from your numbers, not recommendations on financial products or investments.

How far we are responsible

We are responsible for the damage we cause you through our fault, as the law provides. We are not responsible for what depends on causes we could neither control nor avoid, such as a failure of iOS, of the App Store, of your connection or of your device. Where there is no wilful misconduct, we are responsible only for the damage that could be foreseen when you started using the app, and not for damage you could have avoided with ordinary care. Nothing in these terms limits our liability for wilful misconduct or gross negligence, for personal injury, or your rights if the app or the subscription does not work as promised.

Currencies and exchange rates

If you use more than one currency, MoneyLeft converts amounts with the reference rates published by the European Central Bank, the latest available. They are indicative rates: your bank or your card network apply their own rates and fees, and the right figure is the one on your statement. That is why you can always type in the amount actually charged, which takes precedence over the ECB rate. We are not responsible for differences between the indicative rate and the one applied by your bank.

Minimum age

To use MoneyLeft you must be at least 16 years old: by creating the account you confirm this.

Right of withdrawal (EU)

If you are a consumer in the European Union you have the right to withdraw from the order within 14 days of receiving the receipt, without having to give a reason. The right does not apply where you have requested immediate access to the Pro features and have accepted the loss of your right of withdrawal as a result.

The subscription is sold by Apple Distribution International Ltd., not by us: it is Apple that takes the payment, issues the receipt and carries out refunds. The declaration of withdrawal must therefore be sent to Apple. The quickest route is Apple Account › Purchase History, where you select the order and tap "Withdraw Transaction"; alternatively you may write to rightofwithdrawal@apple.com or to Apple Distribution International Ltd., Hollyhill Industrial Estate, Hollyhill, Cork, Republic of Ireland. Apple sends an acknowledgement of receipt and issues the refund within 14 days using the same means of payment, at no cost to you.

Stopping automatic renewal is a different thing from withdrawal and does not give a right to a refund: it is done from iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions, or from the "Manage subscription" button inside the app, which leads to the same place.

You may also write to us, at matteo.de.min@outlook.it, for help or for any question about the subscription. But the refund is issued by Apple: we do not receive it and cannot return it, and writing to us does not stop the 14-day period from running.

Subscription

MoneyLeft can be used free of charge to record transactions, manage budgets, see the summary of the current cycle and month, and keep a backup copy on your account. The free plan has some limits on creating new items: up to 4 custom categories (subcategories are unlimited), up to 3 instalment plans open at the same time, up to 3 subscriptions. Reaching a limit does not affect what you have already created: it only prevents you from creating more until you move to Pro.

With the free plan, the built-in categories, the ones the app suggests to you at the start, cannot be renamed, recoloured, given a new icon, merged or deleted, and their built-in subcategories cannot be deleted: you can add subcategories of your own and remove them whenever you like. If you were already using MoneyLeft before version 1.1, this rule applies to you from the date stated in the notice the app shows you, and only once you have accepted these terms from that notice, as explained in "Changes to the service and to these terms"; any changes you had already made to the built-in categories stay as they are. For this change, the notice is the one the app shows you when you update.

The MoneyLeft Pro subscription removes these limits and adds: net worth forecasting beyond the first month, the 6-month projection beyond the first month, transaction analysis, saving suggestions, the spending recurrence profile, the summary beyond the current cycle or month, the comparison with the previous period, the freedom to rename, merge and delete all categories and subcategories, the use of multiple currencies for accounts and expenses, and syncing between your devices.

The subscription is recorded against your MoneyLeft account, not against the phone and not against the Apple Account: you find it again on any device you sign in to, even with a different Apple Account from the one you bought it with. If you sign out of the account the subscription remains yours: when you sign back in you find it again, and it does not have to be bought again.

The subscription is sold by Apple, not by us: the charge, the renewal, the refund and the cancellation always go through your Apple Account, from iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions. We only record that the purchase is yours, and until when it is valid.

If you use the same phone with a different MoneyLeft account, the Pro features do not appear: they belong to whoever bought them, not to the device. And if you delete your account, the subscription remains active with Apple and continues to be charged until you cancel it: the record on our server, on the other hand, disappears, so you would no longer find it on another device. On the phone you bought it from, the Pro features come back even if you create a new account, with any email address: the app remembers that the deleted account was yours.

The subscription renews automatically at the end of each period, unless cancelled at least 24 hours before it expires. Payment is charged to your Apple Account when you confirm the purchase. Cancellation is handled by Apple: from iOS Settings → your name → Subscriptions, or from the "Manage subscription" button inside the app, which leads to the same place. Writing to us does not stop the renewal, because the charge does not go through us.

Promotional codes. If you receive a code, you can redeem it from Settings › MoneyLeft Pro › Redeem a code, or from the App Store. A code gives a free or discounted period: when that period ends the subscription continues at the full price of the chosen plan, which Apple shows you on the purchase screen before you confirm, and renews by itself, unless cancelled at least 24 hours before. Everything else in this section applies: cancellation is handled through Apple, and if the subscription ends your data stays where it is.

If the subscription ends, your data remains intact: only the Pro features listed above are switched off, and among them syncing between devices. The backup copy on your account carries on, unless you have switched it off, because it is not a Pro feature: what you write stays safe even without a subscription. Export and the backup you export yourself remain free.

Apple and these terms

By downloading the app you also accept Apple's standard licence agreement for apps (EULA), linked on the App Store page. These terms are in addition to that agreement and, if the two conflict, this document prevails, except for the rights the law does not allow to be taken away from you. Apple is not a party to these terms: for the app, support and any complaint about MoneyLeft, we are responsible; Apple is responsible only for the purchase, as explained above.

Backups

Making copies of your data is your responsibility. The app provides export and full backup, free of charge. Your account holds a backup copy of each device until you switch it off (Settings › Account › Copy on your account), delete the account or use "Delete all data", which also removes the data from the server: even then, the reliable way not to lose anything remains a backup exported by you.

Availability of the service

The app works on your phone; sign-in, the copy on your account and syncing go through our server. We do our best to keep it always reachable, but we cannot guarantee that it will be without interruptions: it may stop for maintenance, updates or supplier failures, and when we can foresee it and do so, we let you know beforehand. We are not responsible for delays or interruptions caused by events outside our control that we could not reasonably avoid, such as failures of network or hosting providers, cyber attacks despite the security measures in place, orders from the authorities or natural disasters: in those cases we restore the service as soon as possible. If a subscription feature remains unavailable in a way that is not negligible, your consumer rights on digital content and services remain.

Messages to the developer

From Settings › Tutorial and support › Write to the developer you can write to me directly. I reply as soon as I can, with no guaranteed time, except for requests about your personal data, which are answered within one month. Do not write data that is not needed, such as passwords, card numbers or IBANs. To prevent abuse there is a daily limit on messages, and if an account uses messages for insults, threats, spam or unlawful content I can block it from sending: the rest of the app keeps working.

Changes to the service and to these terms

We may change the features of MoneyLeft, what is included in the free plan and what in Pro, and these terms, only for a valid reason: adapting the app to changes in iOS, the App Store or the law; fixing errors or security problems; keeping sustainable a service that largely remains free; improving the app or adding features. A free feature moves to Pro only to keep the service sustainable, with the notice described below, and whatever you had already created with that feature stays.

We tell you about every change that affects you with a notice in the app, which says what changes, why and from when. If a change takes away something you could do before, the notice arrives at least 30 days before it takes effect, in the app and at your account email, except where these terms set a different notice for a single change. When these terms change, the app asks you to accept them to keep using it, and a change that takes something away from you takes effect for you only once you have accepted it. If you have a subscription running, until the end of the period already paid for you can carry on under the previous conditions and accept later. If you do not agree, you can export your data and delete your account at no cost; if you have a subscription, cancel it with Apple too, because deleting the account does not stop the charges.

If you subscribe to MoneyLeft Pro and a change reduces what the subscription gives you in a way that is not negligible, you have the right to terminate the contract free of charge within 30 days of receiving the notice or, if later, of the day the change takes effect (Article 135-vicies semel of the Italian Consumer Code, Codice del consumo).

If MoneyLeft were to close

We may decide to stop offering the service. In that case we tell you in the app and at the account email at least 60 days beforehand, we remove the subscriptions from sale, so that they no longer renew, and we keep the service running at least until the end of the period you have already paid for; if we could not do so, we refund the unused part ourselves. Until the shutdown you can export all your data, free of charge, and before switching off the server we publish an update that lets you open and export the data on your phone even without an account.

The app and your data

MoneyLeft, its name, logo, design and code belong to Matteo De Min. We give you a personal, non-exclusive and non-transferable right to use the app on the Apple devices you own or control, under these terms and Apple's standard licence agreement. The data you enter stays yours: we acquire no rights in it and we process it only as the privacy policy explains.

If MoneyLeft passes to someone else

We may transfer the service and these terms to another person or company that continues to run MoneyLeft, provided your protections stay the same. We tell you beforehand, in the app and at the account email; if you do not agree you can delete your account at no cost.

Applicable law and disputes

These terms are governed by Italian law. If you are a consumer living in another country, you keep the protections that the laws of your country give you and that a contract cannot take away. If you live in the European Union, disputes fall under the court of the place where you reside or are domiciled. If you live outside the European Union, the competent court is the Court of Ivrea (Italy), without prejudice to the rights that the law of your country does not allow to be taken away from you. Before getting there, write to us: we will try to sort it out together. We do not adhere to alternative dispute resolution (ADR) bodies; if a complaint of yours is not resolved, we tell you in writing which body is competent and whether we intend to use it.

Entire agreement

These terms, the privacy policy and Apple's standard licence agreement are the entire agreement between you and us about MoneyLeft and replace anything agreed before, except for the rights the law does not allow to be taken away from you.

If a clause is not valid

If any part of these terms turns out to be void or unenforceable, the rest remains valid and what the law provides applies in its place. If we do not enforce one of our rights straight away, it does not mean we waive it.

Specific clauses

By creating the account and confirming it with the code we email you, or by accepting these terms from the notice in the app, you specifically approve, under Articles 1341 and 1342 of the Italian Civil Code, the clauses in these sections: "Account" (responsibility for your credentials), "The numbers are estimates, the decisions are yours", "How far we are responsible" (limits of liability within those allowed by law), "Currencies and exchange rates", "Use" (suspension and closure of the account for serious breaches or inactivity), "Backups" (copies of your data are up to you), "Availability of the service" (interruptions and causes outside our control), "Messages to the developer" (limit on and blocking of messages), "Changes to the service and to these terms", "If MoneyLeft were to close" and "If MoneyLeft passes to someone else".
